The Snyder Home Services® Journey

Snyder Home Services® began in 1984 in Baltimore, Maryland when Andrew Snyder founded Snyder Bros. Contractors, Inc. which provided general home improvement services. In 1987 Mr. Snyder decided to specialize in kitchen remodeling and cabinet refacing and purchased a kitchen remodeling company, Kitchen Saver of Baltimore, Inc. ®. Kitchen Saver has been in continuous operation since 1986, serving Baltimore’s kitchen remodeling needs through both custom kitchen remodeling and through the innovative, money-saving remodeling option of cabinet refacing.

In 1992, Snyder Bros. Contractors, Inc. ® partnered with BGE Home Services® to provide kitchen and bathroom remodeling as well as windows and siding services. Snyder Home Services continued this successful partnership for over six years and thousands of jobs.

In 1997, Mr. Snyder expanded the business to include bathroom remodeling when he purchased the franchise rights to Bath Fitter Inc. ®. Bath Fitter specializes in one-piece seamless acrylic bathtub and wall lining systems. It also provides further remodeling by offering sinks, toilets, and vanities, as well as tub-to-shower conversions, shower doors, faucets, and other matching accessories. Our tub liners are custom molded to each bathtub and are easy to care for and clean. They can be installed in as little as half a day, and are a fraction of the cost and time of a traditional bathroom remodeling. In addition, we are currently the only acrylic tub-lining company in the area that offers seamless bath walls (which reduce the chances of leaking) and custom molded liners.

In just over 9 years the Bath Fitter division has seen remarkable growth. We now operate in the metropolitan Washington and Northern Virginia areas. More recently, we have set up Bath Fitter® franchises in the Tidewater and Richmond Virginia areas.

Snyder Home Services® reaches its customers in several ways. We have displays in malls all over Maryland and Virginia, as well as exhibits at home and garden shows and county and state fairs. Bath Fitter® also reaches potential customers through television commercials, newspaper ads, and direct mail ads/coupons. Our most important source of new business is word of mouth and customer referrals.

Customers fill out contact cards or call us directly to set up appointments for free in-home estimates. Our sales personnel go to potential customers’ homes, survey the job site, discuss with customers their wishes and their budget, and then come up with an estimate for the proposed remodel. When the customer signs the contract, a job site inspector returns to confirm the measurements for ordering a custom tub or shower, which is then made in one of two state-of-the-art Bath Fitter® factories, and shipped via Bath Fitter® trucks to the nearest Bath Fitter® warehouse. An installation date is scheduled with the customer and in a few weeks, Bath Fitter® technicians return to install the custom acrylic liner over the existing tub. The installation process normally takes 1-2 business days.

Since its birth in 1984, Snyder Home Services® has grown and become a leader in residential specialty remodeling. We have successfully completed over 25,000 installations. We have also won numerous awards from peer organizations and have received recognition in several publications. We are most proud of our 250+ employees, and though we have grown we continue to remain a small family business who will provide you with the highest quality remodeling experience possible.
